Connect to a News Server

Before you start using the program, you need to provide your news server name and possibly some other information.

Select "Options" from the "Tools" menu and click the "Accounts" item.

Most Internet service providers run a news server. Its name usually looks something like news.your_provider.com (refer to your ISP documentation for the exact information). Press the   button to bring up a new window and enter your news server name in the corresponding field.

As a rule this is the only information you need to enter. But some news servers require you to log on using your username and password. If this is the case, mark "This server requires me to log on" and fill in the necessary data in the "Username" and "Password" fields.

If you are connected to Internet via a local network, you may need to use proxy to access newsgroups. Mark the "Use Socks Proxy" checkbox and fill in all required fields (if you don’t know what you should enter in these fields refer to your system administrator for help).
